Who we are
The Tangkhul Theological Association (TTA) is a non-profit organisation engaged in training and capacitation
of community based leaders and livelihood of common people, focusing on women, the poor and the marginalised in the North East India.
Established in 1969, and subsequently organised in 1985, as an association of theological students and graduates of the Tangkhul community, which is now over 2000 members. TTA works on ensuring social, ecological and economic stability of the community specifically in Ukhrul and Kamjong districts of Manipur, toward enhanced leadership for sustainable society through Development of Human Potential (DHP) in NE Indian region.
Vision
TTA envisions a flourishing community led by thriving leaders who are empowered to be the catalyst of change and growth through effective training and capacitation.
Mission
TTA mission is threefold:
- To empower community leaders equipping and training others for community growth and leadership development.
- To support local bodies and partner with Community-based Organizations (CBOs) for meaningful and sustainable growth to bring individual as well as community transformation.
- To capacitate the people on creation care, environmental awareness, and economic enhancement for holistic growth through spiritual well-being and physical livelihood.

Director's Profile
Dr. (Rev) Wungramthan Shongzan was appointed Director of Tangkhul Theological Association (TTA) and assumed office in April 2022. Prior to joining TTA, he worked as Executive Director of Exodus – the Success Journey, and is also the founding president of Wungram Christian Institute (WCI), thus brings more than twenty years of experience in public education and development sector. Dr. Shongzan teaches Organisational Leadership and Christian Education at several colleges and seminary as Visiting Professor or Adjunct Faculty both in India and abroad.
Athan started his career as an engineer at Engineers India Ltd. (EIL) and worked with Tata Infotech, New Delhi; moved on as an entrepreneur by starting a firm called Silicon Consultants in Shillong; and later chose to pursue theological education following God’s calling into full time Ministry.
He completed Master of Divinity (MDiv) from Singapore Bible College, Singapore. He is a two–time graduate from Southern Baptist Theological Seminary (SBTS), Louisville, Kentucky, USA with his Master of Theology (ThM) and Doctor of Education (EdD).
Dr. Shongzan is a member of the Society of Professors in Christian Education (SPCE), and regularly presents paper in its annual conferences. His research articles are featured in peer–reviewed academic journals
He has authored four books – Choosing the Right Bowl, Things They Didn’t Teach Me in School, Career Roadmap, and the most recent God’s Mission Among His People.
Athan is married to Chanchan, and they have a daughter, Abigail.
